Metadata Pinning

(Build 1051)

Back to Contents

Metadata pinning ensures that file system metadata, directory indexes, and important data structures that describe the organization of your cloud drive do not get removed from the local cache.

Metadata pinning ensures that your cloud drive mounts quickly and that listing files on your cloud drive is fast and responsive.

To access metadata pinning options, open Manage Drive, select Performance then Pinning.

If your cloud drive has a large number of files, you may want to disable Pin directories in order to reduce the amount of data that is pinned on the drive.

If disabled, directory indexes will be downloaded when needed and often accessed directories will be cached as usual.

Currently, NTFS is the only file system that is supported for pinning file system metadata and directory indexes.

If the amount of free disk space falls below 5 GB on the local cache drive, all data will be unpinned in order to make more space available on the drive.

Data will be re-pinned once more disk space becomes available.
